Wilderness Medicine Education Collaborative
Enhanced training for higher standards of care
In this video we're talking with Nadia from Desert Mountain Medicine about Standards in wilderness medical certifications. We are looking at why it is so important to have good training and how the outdoor industry is advancing the study of wilderness medicine. The standards that Nadia discusses are part of the Wilderness Medicine Education Collaborative or WMEC
WMEC was formed in 2010 to provide a forum for “discussing trends and issues in wilderness medicine and to develop consensus-driven scope of practice documents and de facto standards for Wilderness First Aid (WFA), Wilderness Advanced First Aid (WAFA), and Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certifications.”
If you’d like to learn more about the WMEC or the standards that they adhere to check out Desert Mountain Medicine’s programs below.
